Impressive graphics for award winning Town Hall

without comments

We were pleased to see that the recently refurbished Weston super Mare Town Hall has just picked up a national award as Public Building Retrofit Project of the Year at the recent Retro Expo awards. Working with Willmott Dixon Construction on the project, Create Signs supplied and fitted over 400 metres of wall graphics and glazing manifestations which helped transform the building into a bright, contemporary workplace and information centre.

Having recently invested in upgrading their digital print facility, Create Signs is reaping the rewards of the new technology and has been winning substantial contracts for public space decoration including Weston Town Hall, home of North Somerset Council.

The company delivered window and wall manifestation in both public and office space. Adhering to the colour scheme used for paint on the walls, pillars and fixtures around the building, we were able to reproduce the work in printed form and perfectly match the new scheme. Full colour print on etched vinyl for large expanses of window manifestation was used and married to matching printed vinyl that continues around the walls, delivering a seamless, colourful and practical job that enlivens a space used by both the general public and council workers.

Deregulation of No Smoking Signs

without comments

5 years after England became ‘smoke-free’, the government has implemented cuts to unnecessary regulation covering Health and Safety signage.

Original regulations stipulated that No Smoking signs had to be a certain style, size and design and had to be displayed in a prominent position at every entrance to smoke-free premises. From 1st October 2012 businesses will no longer have to follow these strict guidelines and just one sign needs to be displayed at each premises. There is no longer a set design or size required for the sign. Good news for business, bad news for sign companies! If your business does need Health and Safety signage, please contact us for guidance and further information.

Back to School Signage

without comments

Create have been busy over the past few months supplying all kinds of school and college signage in time for the start of the new academic year.

Weston College is rolling out its stunning rebrand with colourful manifestations across its campus. The impressive large format digitally printed window graphics have been applied to the interiors of atrium glazing.

Following the merger of 3 schools, Bridgwater College Academy has just opened its doors to new and returning pupils. Create were asked to complete the project in super quick time having been contacted just a month before the Academy was due to open. Having seen our signage at City of Bristol College, the Estates Department asked us to produce something similar so signs on the three Academy sites were branded in line with Bridgwater College while still maintaining a distinct identity of its own. The external signage package included producing and installing monolith entrance signs and wall mounted trays and we removed all old signage for recycling and disposal.

Our client is delighted with the signage and has already received lots of positive comments.

Redland Green School in Bristol came to us looking for a visual means of reflecting the school’s ethos of positivity and inclusivity to inspire pupils in their day to day life at the school. The colourful word clouds and vinyl graphics were designed by Create and applied to room and hall walls throughout the school.

And not forgetting our local primary school, St Andrew’s who now have some glorious purple entrance signs to match the school uniforms.

Police publicity posters top of the bill

without comments

Hot off the press from our large format digital printer are some eye catching publicity posters for Avon and Somerset Constabulary. The posters were designed and printed in house and aimed at recruiting youngsters to the North Somerset Volunteer Police Cadets.

PC Ray Bradley came to Create with a tight deadline but the job was turned around quickly and as a result, applications to become a Police Cadet have been ‘pouring in’. He told us the high quality posters had ‘impressed me, my colleagues and whole of the Corporate Communications Team at Police Headquarters’. We were pleased to help the local initiative.

Create Signs celebrate 10 years – then and now

without comments

So, what was happening in July 2002 when Create first started trading? Steve Fosset made the first non-stop balloon flight round the world, Rowan Williams was announced Archibishop of Canterbury, Lleyton Hewitt and Serena Williams won at Wimbledon and Men in Black II was released in UK cinemas. Meanwhile, Create were boogeying to Jools Holland at an open air concert at Dyrham Park prior to the first day at work…

Interestingly it looks like the weather was pretty similar; July 2002 was a very wet month across most parts of the UK with some areas receiving three times their normal rainfall. The reports state the weather was unsettled, chilly and changeable with downpours and local flooding so it seems not much has changed there…
